We’re excited to announce that our April 12th Spring Chapter Meeting will feature Texas fly-fishing guide Pat Vanek of Bosque River Guides. Pat brings decades of experience fishing the Brazos River and central Texas waters, making this a must-attend event and seasonally appropriate presentation for anglers of all levels.
About Pat Vanek
Pat’s fly-fishing journey began at just 10 years old when he picked up a Martin glass rod and Model 62 reel from an S&H Green Stamps store. His first catch—a redbreast sunfish from Turtle Creek in Kerrville—sparked a lifelong passion for the sport.
Today, as the owner of Bosque River Guides, Pat specializes in guiding anglers in pursuit of largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass, along with carp, channel catfish, and drum. He is also a skilled fly tier and an active educator, frequently presenting at fly-fishing clubs and shops across Texas.
When he’s not on the water, Pat enjoys time at home near Crawford, Texas, with his wife and their 17-year-old triplets. Whether he’s guiding, fishing, hunting, or tying flies, his passion for the outdoors never fades.
