Saturday, 11:00–12:30 and 3:00–4:30
Spend a little time getting acquainted, or better acquainted with essential equipment and fundamental fly casting skills. This is your chance to begin your fly fishing journey with a solid understanding of the basics.
Good to know:
This clinic will offer an introductory overview of basic casting, gear and rigging, knots, & flies
A limited number of loaner rod/reel combos are available, but participants who already own or have access to a 4, 5 or 6wt combo are encouraged to bring it!
Clinics are first come, first served and we will do our best to accommodate all who wish to attend
Glasses/sunglasses are required for eye protection and a hat with a brim is recommended but not required
Cari Ray
Cari is a professional guide, casting instructor, and host of the Fisher of Zen Podcast. She is also the founder of Zen Fly Fishing, a woman owned and operated fly fishing school and guide service based in Texas Hill Country. Her primary guiding focus in Texas is the Llano River, Guadalupe River Tailwater, and the Pedernales. She spends summers blue-lining and guiding in Southwestern Colorado and in Northern New Mexico on the famed San Juan River. She has a particular passion for helping clients and students become independent and successful fly anglers. Cari believes that one’s mastery of casting and fishing skills is equally proportional to one’s access to the enjoyment, relaxation, and “zen” that is available through the sport.
